Multi-client Study Off the Coast of East Sarawak

The Multi- client Source – to- Sink & Petroleum System Study of South – West Sarawak was conducted by Beicip – Franlab and Beicip – Franlab Asia in 2024 to provide an assessment of the hydrocarbon potential of SW Sarawak . The study area covers southern South – West Sarawak. Province, Tatau Province (Half – Graben sub – basin) and part eastern Balingian Province . The whole database was kindly provided by Petronas – MPM comprising the latest information available including seismic, wells and biostratigraphic reports . ConocoPhillips, premium sponsor of this study, kindly provided detailed information concerning the Mersing – 1 exploratory well.

The Multi-client Source-to-Sink & Petroleum System Study of West Sarawak was conducted by Beicip-Franlab and Beicip-Franlab Asia in 2024 – 2025 to provide an assessment of the hydrocarbon potential of West Sarawak. The study area covers the central –northern portion of West Sarawak Province, the South-West Sarawak area was the object of a dedicated Atlas released in 2024 (Phase-I). The whole database was kindly provided by Petronas-MPM comprising the latest information available including seismic, wells and biostratigraphic reports.

A complete exploration scale workflow was applied during this study covering from geodynamic interpretation (Chapter 3), stratigraphy and sedimentology (Chapter 4), geophysics interpretation (Chapter 5), petrophysics (Chapter 6) stratigraphic modeling (Chapter 7), basin modeling (Chapter 8) and to finally delivering a range of volume in place for identified leads in SW Sarawak (Chapter 9)

  • 3A : Balingian and South Central Luconia
  • 3B : North Central Luconia and Deepwater

Despite its maturity, the East Offshore Sarawak Basin still faces some fundamental challenges:

Balingian Province

• • Identify liquid sweet spot with structural analysis specific to trapping
  • Source rock facies mapping

Central Luconia

• • Pre-MMU and Pre-Cycle-I prospectivity in Central Luconia
  • Allochthonous carbonate play

North Luconia

• • Presence of working petroleum system elements

Baram Delta

• • Pre-MMU clastic and carbonate play
